Lightweight, low cost and maintenance, drought tolerant using planted with sedums, grasses, mosses and meadow flowers that require little irrigation or fertilisation to insulate buildings, reduces noise and rainwater runoff whilst providing a habitat for wildlife on limited access roofs. The green roof element is supplied as individual components fixed in situ on site or a modular system such as ANS which arrives on site with the equivalent of two years growth, ready to ‘click’ together for an instant roof. Can be constructed on slopes up to 30°, and steeper ones can be installed with raised grids or laths to hold plants and growing media in place.

Can be thought of as a Garden on a roof with lots of shrubs, flowers even trees along with walkways and flowerbeds, it is heavier and needs more support and is more expensive. Deeper growing medium can sustain complex landscapes, including small trees and even small ornamental ponds and fountains. Intensive roof greening usually requires irrigation and maintenance, as the roofs have plants of reasonable size for a traditional roof garden. BIO-DIVERSE OR BROWN ROOFS
